Global Health Initiative
NEED: There are many barriers to obtaining necessary health services including poverty, language barriers, access to transportation, exorbitant parking fees and provider bias. Additionally, few options exist for the uninsured to access primary health care other than hospital emergency rooms, which contributes to the skyrocketing cost of healthcare.
APPROACH: Refer patients to resources dedicated to providing cost effective alternatives through our network of partners at the local, national and global levels. What began as a one surgeon, 15-patient initiative has grown into a multi-disciplinary group of specialists who believe in the principles of compassionate care - orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, physiatrists, internists, pain medicine specialists, physician’s assistants, and many other compassionate providers.
NEED: Patients report disturbing racial, ethnic and geographic disparities in health status and clinical outcomes. The results are well documented. Those in underserved communities suffer higher rates of illness and experience poorer outcomes than those in affluent communities.
APPROACH: OnePatient interfaces with underserved populations by way of community outreach, advocacy, social services, and medical intervention.
NEED: Musculoskeletal disorders are the leading cause of disability in the United States, afflicting more than one in four Americans. The economic impact is staggering - about 8% of the gross national domestic product. This burden will only escalate due to an aging population, obesity, and sedentary lifestyles.
APPROACH: OnePatient provides resources for screening and education about disease, and injury prevention and healthy lifestyles. We encourage patients to take personal accountability for their own health and that of their community.
NEED: Every neighborhood is made up of many folks with a strong desire to contribute to the well-being of their community.
APPROACH: OnePatient provides a platform for volunteerism and community activism. We invite everyone to contact us and find out how you, too, can make a difference... OnePatient at a Time.
